"Execution of the Industrial Plan is progressing in line with the Group’s strategic priorities. First-half 2025 results confirm the Group’s solid industrial momentum, with a further reduction in debt, validating the effectiveness of the actions undertaken. Based on first half performance and growth expectations, we have revised our 2025 Guidance upwards, setting new targets for Orders, FOCF, and Net Debt. We are strengthening our competitive positioning across domestic and international markets, reaffirming our role as a leading player in the ongoing consolidation of the Defense industry. The development of joint ventures with Rheinmetall and Baykar Technologies is advancing, and the #GCAP program has entered its operational phase. Leonardo’s #FLORIS instrument, developed at our Campi Bisenzio site, in Florence, Italy, has been successfully integrated into the European Space Agency - ESA’s #FLEX satellite, a major step forward for this flagship environmental mission. This significant result was made possible by collaboration and shared technological expertise with Thales Alenia Space, and ESA’s committed engagement. FLORIS will enable FLEX to deliver global insights into vegetation health and photosynthetic activity starting in 2026. The mission will play a crucial role in improving our understanding of the Earth’s vegetation, supporting a more sustainable future for all.

Back to my Italian roots this week ?? No I am not Italian, but I did dedicate 21 years of my career here, got married here and welcomed a daughter into the world here. Coming to Italy always feels a little bit like coming home. I met with Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, the candidate for Chair of ESA’s Council Ministerial 2025, taking place in November. We discussed the upcoming packages and developments leading towards #CM25. Later, I had follow-up discussions with the Minister of the Ministero della Difesa, Guido Crosetto. I look forward to hopefully welcoming Minister Crosetto to visit ESA and in particular ESRIN located in Frascati, just outside of Rome. It’s fundamental to meet with the people making the decisions for a more resilient, competitive Italy to illustrate for them the ways in which space – and ESA – can assist them in reaching their objectives. Italy maintains a key role in forming the future of European space activities and to contributing to Europe's overall resilience. I had a tour of the Thales Alenia Space Space Smart Factory in Rome, designed for the high-rate production of small and medium-sized satellites, targeting up to 2 satellites per week once fully operational! Ambitious and exciting. I look forward to seeing it fully up and running. I also visited Thales Alenia Space's Satellite Integration Center to see Galileo 2nd Generation and IRIDE satellites in their clean rooms. Finally, we celebrated ESA’s 50th anniversary organised by Agenzia Spaziale Italiana. And if I may, I will switch to Italian for this part... Sono stato lieto di intervenire in questo evento speciale per celebrare i 50 anni dell'ESA; un’occasione per ripercorrere i risultati raggiunti insieme. Tuttavia, mentre celebriamo il passato, prepariamo anche il futuro. In un'epoca di profondi mutamenti geopolitici, in cui l'imprevedibilità è ormai la nuova normalità, l'ESA è chiamata ad agire. Cinquant'anni fa i rappresentanti di 10 Paesi europei, tra cui l'Italia, firmarono la convenzione ESA, un "capolavoro giuridico" che ha dimostrato la propria validità e versatilità. In un mondo che stava rimarginando le ferite generate dalla divisione e dal nazionalismo, i firmatari scelsero l'unità. Noi, la scegliamo di nuovo a novembre.
